Walt Disney Co’s primary streaming service Disney+ is rising at such a strong pace that the company’s global subscriber base could triple to 260 million by 2024, the company stated on Thursday. That’s a huge growth from its current count of 86.8 million subscribers globally. The revised guidance places Disney’s year old service in the path of its major streaming competitor, Netflix Inc., which as of now has almost 200 million subscribers worldwide but isn’t increasing as fast as Disney+. Disney+ has already exceeded the company’s previous guidance, when it stated that it hoped to reach between 60 million and 90 million subscribers by 2024.Disney is increasing the monthly subscription of Disney+ $1 to $7.99 in upcoming March as it is outstandingly growing its spending on TV shows and movies for the service.
