Boeing Co. has widened inspections of newly built 787 Dreamliners after discovering previously disclosed manufacturing faults in parts of the jet where it hadn’t been detected from the start.Boeing engineers and US air-safety regulators agree the recently uncovered problem does not pose an impending safety concern, the officials said. But the new issue will possibly fuel up a Federal Aviation Administration review of 787 production safeguards triggered off earlier this year by other defects. The wider quality control checks, covering the whole fuselage of the plans rather than just specific parts around the tail, are why inspections are taking a longer process than previously thought, the officials said. It also explains why no Dreamliners were distributed in November.
