US stock index futures increased on Tuesday on hopes that Washington lawmakers would be able to settle their differences for an economic stimulus bill to pass before November 3 presidential elections.

House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin will talk again on Tuesday, after a 53-minute telephone conversation on Monday “continued to shrink their differences” over the coronavirus aid package.

Discouragement over the fiscal stimulus weighed on Wall Street’s major indexes on Monday, with analysts expecting market instability to increase with only two weeks left until Election Day.

Meanwhile, the third quarter returns season gathered progress with corporations including property and casualty insurer Travelers Cos Inc (TRV),m consumer products behemoth Procter & Gamble Co (PG) and jet maker Lockheed Martin (LMT) scheduled to report results prior to the bell.
