The US is assembling to take action against China’s ByteDance for reasons that its ownership of TikTok violates the security measures of the personal data that the popular video app operates.

It was not quite clear whether the Us government would ask ByteDance to make changes to its TikTok outright ownership. However, a statement could come as soon as Friday, requesting anonymity, due to the matter being confidential.

The US Treasury Department and ByteDance, declined to comment.
